About Our Partner
- Bord Bia

We are delighted to partner with a number of corporate, philanthropic and media organisations that share our aims and help GIY to carry out it’s work. We couldn’t do what we do without them!

Bord Bia’s mission is to grow the success of a world class food and horticulture industry by providing strategic market development, promotion and information services. It acts as a link between Irish Food, Drink & Horticulture suppliers and existing and potential customers throughout the world. Its objective is to develop markets for Irish suppliers and to bring the taste of Irish food to more tables world-wide.

Bord Bia has partnered with GIY to support communities and the public to grow their own food such as sponsoring the production of our series on RTE Grow Cook Eat. GIY have also teamed up annually with Bord Bia to bring “Food Matters” to Bloom, Ireland’s annual horticulture festival which has been deemed one of the nations’ favourite summer/garden events.

Having amalgamated with Bord Glas in 2004, Bord Bia is responsible for the development of the horticulture industry in Ireland. Horticulture is divided into two main sectors – the food sector (e.g. fruit and vegetables including mushrooms, potatoes and glasshouse crops) and the amenity sector (e.g. trees, shrubs, flowers, and bulbs). In addition to working with industry, Bord Bia provide online resources for consumers to make the most of their gardens.

GIY stories

Meet some of our GIYers (that’s people who grow some of their own food) who all champion Food Empathy – a deeper understanding and connection with food from their experience of growing. If you want food done right, then grow it yourself.
